Arranging a last-minute charter during a US government shutdown
A client and his wife needed help getting home from Florida when their commercial flight was cancelled during a US government shutdown, which was causing staff shortages and domestic air traffic restrictions at dozens of major airports across the country. With private aircraft in high demand as passengers sought an alternative, we got straight to work on a last-minute charter solution.
Our Solution
Routes: Key West > Raleigh
Aircraft: Cessna Citation Excel
The couple were stranded on Key West, an island with one of North America’s shortest commercial runways. With this in mind, we set about finding an aircraft that combined excellent short-field performance with sufficient range for the domestic flight.
Leveraging our operator contacts, we sourced a midsize jet that ticked every box and was available at short notice for an early-morning departure the next day. Thanks to our efficient planning, the charter went off without a hitch and the client made it home in good time.
